Combined Cadet Force

The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Ortu Federation Trust currently has 34 cadets across both schools, Hassenbrook and Gable Hall and is open to all students in Years 8 to 10. The primary role of CCF is to promote leadership, teamwork and encourage self-discipline whilst having a lot of fun in the outdoors.

Parade is at 3.30pm on Thursday afternoons and sessions run until 5.30pm. Each year, in addition to the regular Thursday afternoon parades, cadets are encouraged to participate in a range of trips and camps:

  • An overnight annual Adventure Training Camp in Kent in the autumn term when students take part in navigation skills, cross country marches, night watch patrol whilst forging new friendships and learning about teamwork.
  • Field days and range weekends including tactical and field craft lessons and live firing.
  • We attend a military run central camp at the start of the summer holidays. This gives the cadets a chance to compete against other schools in military skills and is great opportunity to mingle with other likeminded cadets from all parts of the country.

We are always looking for new cadets, including cadet force adult volunteers (CFAV): contact Lt Squires at Hassenbrook or Sgt Russell at Gable Hall for further details. For more information on volunteering visit: https://combinedcadetforce.org.uk/get-involved/volunteering. If you would like to make a donation to support our CCF programme, contact Lt Squires: dsquires@hassenbrook.org.uk.
