Passport To Adventure
Passport-to-Adventure-pamplet-2020Our Passport to Adventure programme has recently launched starting with our Year 7 students. This programme is a prelude to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and in years to come will work seamlessly together to provide a unique and exciting programme exclusively for our students.
A group of Year 7s are aiming to achieve their Bronze Award with a 12 week programme that focuses on three key areas: charity, service and skills. The highlight will involve showcasing all that they’ve learnt over the duration of the programme in an overnight event over two days.
Ms Heald, DofE & Passport to Adventure Coordinator, commented: “It has been wonderful to see our students taking the initiative and getting involved in charity and voluntary work this term. Next term they will be honing and learning a brand new skill and then taking part in the final section which will be an overnight camping experience. We are already in the planning stages for next year when the programme extends to Year 8 and the silver award – an exciting 24 week experience.”
The fundamental aim of the programme is to build our students’ confidence and to expand their horizons. They are also going to learn and develop important skills which will stand them in good stead for their futures focusing on independence, responsibility, respect, confidence, organisational skills, community service, teamwork and success.

“Passport to Adventure has been a brilliant experience for my daughter. It has encouraged her to engage with her fellow students, work as a team, as well as engage with members of staff and members of the local community which has been a big confidence boost. The students have worked hard on their first chapter of fundraising – considering they only had four weeks to organise and complete, they did an amazing job and as parents we are very proud of their achievements.
